Bhogabalañ-ca, dīghāvu, dutiyaṁ vuccate balaṁ,

⏑−⏑⏑−¦⏑−−−¦¦⏑⏑−−¦⏑−⏑− 9 syllables
Amaccabalañ-ca dīghāvu, The line is hypermetric, it could be corrected by dropping ca. tatiyaṁ vuccate balaṁ. [534]

Abhijaccabalaṁ ce va, taṁ catutthaṁ asaṁsayaṁ,

−⏑−−¦⏑⏑−−¦¦−−−−¦⏑−⏑− savipulā
Taṁ balānaṁ balaseṭṭhaṁ ChS, Thai: balaṁ seṭṭhaṁ; which gives pathyā cadence, but savipulā is acceptable to the early texts. aggaṁ paññābalaṁ varaṁ; ChS: paññābaṁ balaṁ? this looks like a mistake as there is no proper meaning and the line is a syllable short.

−−⏑−¦⏑−−−¦¦−−−⏑¦⏑−⏑−
Paññābalenupatthaddho, atthaṁ vindati Paṇḍito. [536]

−−⏑⏑¦−⏑−⏑− Vetālīya
Paññā va Text, BJT omit: va. sutaṁ vinicchinī,

−−−⏑⏑¦−⏑−⏑−
Paññā kittisilokavaḍḍhanī, Thai writes these two lines thus: Paññā sutavinicchinī paññā (kitti) silokavaḍḍhanī; we can see from this it doesn't understand the Vetālīya metre, and is trying to force it into a Siloka shape, cf. 199 above. Same with the lines below.

−−⏑⏑¦−⏑−⏑−
Paññāsahito Text: Paññāya sahito; against the metre. naro idha

⏑⏑−−¦−⏑−⏑−
Api Thai excludes: Api; trying to make the line Siloka. dukkhe BJT adds: pi; as it stands this is a prior line in a posterior position. sukhāni vindati. [537]
