Preface

The text of the Mātikā from Dhammasaṅgaṇī presented here has been established after a comparison of the three main editions of the text as listed below. The work as it stands is a preliminary to some texts that are being prepared from the Abhidhamma, including the Satipaṭṭhānavibhaṅga.

After revising the Satipaṭṭhānavibhaṅga it proved necessary to update the Mātikā also, to bring it into line. I still hope to expand the present work at some point to include the explanations of the matrix that are given in the Nikkhepakaṇḍa and Aṭṭhakathā sections of Dhammasaṅgaṇī.
